Many rookie e-commerce sellers often expect quick and enthusiastic responses from the supplier they sent out their requests for quotations (RFQs) to. Ideally, it will be a match straightaway, and the suppliers are willing to adhere to your requirements. Yet the truth is harsh: most of the time, suppliers are not as supportive as you think. In this post, we will be listing out some realistic expectations every e-commerce business owner should have when you are sending out your RFQs.

#1: No reply

First off, as you send requests for quotations (RFQs), you shouldn’t expect all of them to reply. Some manufacturers/suppliers may be too big and simply not interested in your business. They would rather move dozens of containers per month with clients like Walmart, so they won’t be interested in dealing with small guys like you, who are only providing a fraction of their business. However, don’t get dejected – continue sending out your RFQs and you will eventually find someone who is willing to give your business a try.

Stay tuned as we expose you to more realistic expectations during the process of engaging suppliers!
