Many sellers on Amazon may run into the below scenario: they do their research diligently, list their products in anticipation, but end up discovering that those products didn’t generate as much revenue as they thought. Then their spirits get dampened and find themselves getting less and less confident as they proceed with their Amazon business.

And that’s the first sign of falling into a negative cycle and mindset of doing business on Amazon, which may end up in disastrous effects.

As an experienced coach teaching people how to sell on Amazon, I strive to let e-commerce business owners have a taste of success and hence build up their confidence as they go on about their business. But how do I do that?

It boils down to this: I will coach you on how to focus on trending products, and generate good income so that you can see if this venture is the correct move for yourself. If you find that you like this, then I can go on to teaching you how to sustain an evergreen business and thus become successful by selling on Amazon.

In general, finding trends is the first step I will advise for all starting Amazon entrepreneurs. True, it doesn’t solve every problem, but believe me: once you get the thrill of generating income from bumping sales on fast-moving industry trends, you will be addicted to it and hence naturally be spurred to look out for more ways to maintain your success. And that will keep you far away from the bleak scene I mentioned at the beginning of my post, and hopefully, help you cultivate the correct mindset all successful Amazon sellers possess – a true entrepreneurial spirit.

Pros and Cons of Working with Trending Products

Selling trending products is a great way to start your Amazon business. However, trends are fleeting in nature, and there are various challenges that come along with selling something extremely popular and highly visible.

Today, I will go through some of the pros and cons of working on trending products, and hopefully, this will give you a better idea of what you are going to deal with.

Pros of Working with Trending Products

  1. Great profits can be made within a short period of time.
  2. Trending products are established winners within the marketplace. Selling them will more likely guarantee your success than selling an unknown product line.
  3. If everything goes well, your low investment capital can be turned into something much greater, thus helping to grow your business quickly.

Cons of Working with Trending Products

  1. Timing is everything. If you come in too late, the marketplace may become saturated, leaving your listings with a grim chance of survival.
  2. Be prepared for a race to the bottom in terms of product pricing. Small sellers may be drowned out in the competition if they are not creative enough.
  3. Trending items are temporary market items, and they are not great for building long-lasting business brands.

In general, selling trending products is all about entering the marketplace first and winning the market share before the other competitors. Sellers who are fast action takers and creative thinkers are the best suited for selling these fast-moving trending items, especially if they possess great foresight for spotting trends.

Another Tip to Leverage on when Selling Trending Products

Enjoying your sales from trending products? Let me provide you with another tip to leverage on selling products!

  Create and Sell Complementary Items

The trick is this: once you found a potential trending product, try to think whether it’s possible to also sell any other complementary or accessory items that can go along with it. You can start to generate ideas by looking out for the items already on sale on Amazon – Amazon makes this easy enough with its “Frequently Bought Together” and “Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought” features.

Steer clear if there’s already a lot of products already being suggested though – this would mean that the market is already saturated. However, if you feel that you can still create value in the market by selling other complimentary items – or even best,  come up with your own, unique products – then go ahead! Think creative and improvisation!
